Kirsten Broberg has a demonstrated track record as an effective music administrator, with a specialization in contemporary music, and is dedicated to community and intercampus engagement. The following are organizations for which she has worked or volunteered:

Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra

Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra

Kirsten Broberg serves as a host, giving a pre-concert lecture, for selected performances of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, now in its 52nd season, is the nation’s only full-time professional chamber orchestra and is widely regarded as one of the finest chamber orchestras in the world. The SPCO has released 67 recordings, commissioned 127 new works, and performed the world premiere of 49 additional compositions.

ENSEMBLE 61

ENSEMBLE 61

Kirsten is the co-director of the new Minneapolis-based contemporary music group, Ensemble 61 in 2010. Ensemble 61 brings new and experimental music to the public through concerts at traditional and non-traditional venues, web-based broadcasts, education/outreach programs and community engagement.

ENSEMBLE DAL NIENTE

ENSEMBLE DAL NIENTE

Kirsten founded and served as the Executive Director of critically-acclaimed, award-winning Chicago-based contemporary music Ensemble Dal Niente from 2004-2010. Ensemble Dal Niente performs a broad range of 20th- and 21st-century music. Through concerts, commissions and educational activities, Dal Niente explores the wealth and diversity of music composed in the past century — from the European avant-garde, to American high modernism, to styles influenced by popular music and jazz. She remains active with the organization and currently both a board member and the Artistic Advisor for the organization.

Kirsten was a panelist for the Meet the Composer Cary New Music Performance Fund in spring 2011. Meet The Composer supports the creation of new musical work and the engagement of new work with people and communities throughout the United States. We are motivated by a core belief that interaction with a living composer and his or her music has the power to invigorate and inspire musicians and audiences alike.

Kirsten volunteered as a panelist for the American Composers Forum Encore Grant in spring 2010. The American Composers Forum enriches lives by nurturing the creative spirit of composers and communities. We provide new opportunities for composers and their music to flourish, and engage communities in the creation, performance and enjoyment of new music.

Kirsten served on the New Music Chicago Board of Directors from 2005-2007. The goal of New Music Chicago is to expand the audience for contemporary art music and foster more opportunities for its performance.

Kirsten Broberg was a marketing assistant for the International Contemporary Ensemble. The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) is dedicated to reshaping the way music is created and experienced. With a flexible roster of 33 leading instrumentalists performing in forces ranging from solos to large ensembles, ICE functions as performer, presenter, and educator, advancing the music of our time by developing innovative new works and pursuing groundbreaking strategies for audience engagement. In an era of radical change, ICE redefines concert music as it brings together new work and new listeners

MIDWEST GRADUATE MUSIC CONSORTIUM

She was the Midwest Graduate Music Consortium Composition Chair in 2005. MGMC is a joint venture organized by graduate students from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, The University of Chicago, and Northwestern University. Conferences allow graduate students in various fields of music to come together and share ideas on a vast array of topics in a professional and collegial atmosphere. Conferences are held annually on a rotating basis at Madison, Chicago, or Evanston.

Kirsten was the President of the Northwestern University Graduate Music Organization and served on the planning committee for the 2005 Northwestern University New Music Marathon. Northwestern University combines innovative teaching and pioneering research in a highly collaborative environment that transcends traditional academic boundaries. It provides students and faculty exceptional opportunities for intellectual, personal and professional growth in a setting enhanced by the richness of Chicago.

She was a member of the Chicago Composers Forum Steering Committee from 2005-2007. The Chicago Composers Forum promotes the composition, dissemination and appreciation of New Music in Chicago. We connect local composers with audiences, contributing to Chicago's profile as a hub of New Music in the global community.
